VOLUNTEER (unpaid)

Volunteers are crucial to allowing Training Wheels, LLC to continue providing free services for our foster dogs!

 

This is a support role reporting to Training Wheels’ staff members on site at the facility. Duties include feeding, exercising, and cleaning up after the dogs as well as spending one-on-one time engaging each dog in his/her favorite activities. Minimal interaction with public clients may also be requested. Volunteers must be willing to get dirty and have the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. A commitment of at least one two hour shift per month is required.

CANINE CAMP COUNSELOR
Training Wheels - Broomfield, Colorado
Part Time Hourly
$16-$18/hr - Compensation Dependent on Experience
Shifts are 8am-12pm and 2pm-8pm


Training Wheels is a progressive dog boarding & training facility specializing in modifying behavior without the use of force or intimidation. We treat dogs with more patience and individual consideration than other boarding facilities. Many of the dogs staying with us have unique sensitivities that require careful handling. The right candidate will be eager to learn and invested in remaining with the company for more than a few months. This is not a training position but dedicated employees may advance into training roles.

As Canine Custodian/Camp Counselor you will be responsible for providing a high level of personalized care to a small number of dogs and superior customer service to the dogs’ guardians. Duties include feeding, administering medication, exercising, and cleaning up after the dogs as well as spending one-on-one time engaging each dog in it’s favorite activities. Responsibilities also include greeting clients in a friendly and professional manner to handle pickup and drop-off of dogs, communication via phone with clients and veterinarians, taking payment and coordinating scheduling.


All candidates are required to work weekends and Holidays. Punctuality and reliable transportation are a must. Must be willing to get dirty and have the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.


Qualification & Requirements

  • Experience handling and caring for multiple dogs

  • Attention to Detail

  • Ability to follow directions as well as complete tasks without supervision

  • Friendly and professional attitude toward coworkers and clients

  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for the duration of your shift

  • Flexibility to complete tasks outside this job description as needed

BEHAVIOR CONSULTANT

Training Wheels - Broomfield, Colorado

Full Time Salaried 

$42,000-$62,000 annually 

 

Training Wheels is a progressive dog boarding & training facility specializing in modifying behavior without the use of force or intimidation. We treat dogs with more patience and individual consideration than other boarding facilities. Many of the dogs staying with us have unique sensitivities that require careful handling. All Behavior Consultants strive to be fear-free and use no pressure or punishment in their training. We are dedicated to ongoing personal and professional development. 

 

Dog Behavior Consultants report to the Boarding Operations Manager. They supervise Assistant Trainers and serve in an advisory capacity to the Boarding Team. They are frequently asked to interpret behavior, assist with pairing dogs for group play or make suggestions to help animals transition into the facility. 

 

Dog Behavior Consultants conduct private training lessons with clients on-site and in-home. They are responsible for creating training plans, coaching clients in their implementation, and checking in to ensure progress and encourage regular scheduling of ongoing appointments. 

 

Behavior Consultants conduct daily training with dogs enrolled in our Board & Train program, record their progress and communicate regularly with their guardians. They work closely with Assistant Trainers and Volunteers to guide them in working with these and other dogs. 

 

Behavior Consultants are expected to occasionally step into other staff roles when necessitated by seasonal changes and demand, i.e. at major Holidays.

 

Qualification & Requirements

  • Certifications Accepted: CPDT-KA, KPA-CTP, ADT-CTC, CDBC, CBCC

  • Fear Free Certified or obtain certification within 6 months of hire date

  • 2 or more years working full time as a dog trainer

  • Experience training complex dog behavior issues

  • Flexibility to coach a diverse group of client personalities and learning styles

  • Ability to empathize and converse diplomatically when family members disagree and emotions run high

  • Ability to recognize limitations and seek guidance from senior staff when necessary

  • Comfort with instructing and overseeing staff

  • Experience interfacing with the public on the phone and in person

  • Patience and a good sense of humor
